Viva Elvis! by Cirque du Soleil at Aria Resort and Casino

March 18th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

March 17, 2010
If you like Elvis you will love Viva ELVIS, the new Cirque de Soleil homage at Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
Having seen every Cirque show on the Las Vegas Strip I was a little trepidacious about the plethora of Elvis possibilities. I envisioned flying Elvii, and impersonators dangling from high wires, but happily, I was wrong.
The production has integrity, and intimate Elvis moments are highlighted with extravagant Broadway dance sequences. The Cirque specialty — performers that defy gravity and our imaginations work in concert with the dancers, marrying the best of both worlds.

Wynn Las Vegas Reinvents Wynn LVNV Boutique

March 18th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

March 17, 2010
Wynn Las Vegas has reinvented Wynn LVNV, its residential design store, and will launch the new concept on March 11. The store will feature a selection of objets d’art and luxury home goods, with pieces that include unique items from the Maison et Objet, the largest decorative show in Europe. The new space will resemble a home more than a retail space, with each room presenting items shown in vignette collections as they would appear in a home. The foyer gallery will be a center for trunk shows and exhibitions for artists and artisans in the decorative arts, with each month featuring a new artist.
Directly behind the foyer will be the casual living room, displaying things for the casual lifestyle, as well as indoor/outdoor items on the garden porch. Natural materials, rustic artifacts, handmade and exotic crafts will be found in the casual living room.
Shoppers will also be able to select from Wynn’s cabana and pool furnishings. Left of the foyer will be the Wynn guest room, with sleep and bath products that reflect years of research and development in the design of the mattress, pillows, duvets and sheets. A corner of the guest room will be reserved for baby items, including layette linens, as well as clothing for toddlers.
The dining room to the right of the foyer will offer items for entertaining.
Past the dining room will be the formal living room with furnishings found at Wynn Las Vegas and from the Roger Thomas Collection of home furnishings.

Nightlife at Eve Nightclub at City Center Las Vegas

March 18th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

March 17, 2010
It’s Friday night and City Center is at the heart of what’s happening in Las Vegas.
Aria, one of the finished towers is home to Desperate Housewive’s, Eva Longoria Parker’s Latin-flavored restaurant, Beso, and Eve, her hot new nightclub.
Owing to the success of her eponymous L.A. based eatery, the diva has branched out in style.
Next to the Crystals – the most high-end shopping area in Vegas – Dubai West as my friend Dianne calls it, I found Beso and Eve. Mali Nachum, one of Longoria’s partners tells me that they went out of their way to create a green environment.
The interior of the restaurant is elegant – black, white, spacious, and presumably delicious.. I didn’t have a chance to sample the fare, as they’re only open for dinner and I had Viva Elvis tickets, playing at City Center.
Eve, directly upstairs from Beso opens at 10:30 p.m. By nightclub standards it’s intimate with nice views of City Center. Small oval marble-top tables frame the bar, and, as with all Vegas nightclubs, if you want to sit down you buy a bottle or two. Those start around $450.
Eve reflects the elegant touches seen downstairs at Beso restaurant – beautiful chandeliers, rich dark wood along with beautiful, thin model types wearing short, shimmering sequined dresses undulating atop perimeter platforms. The cover for women is $20 and $30 for men.
Guest stars, including Longoria have been enjoying their late night entertainment here. The draw Friday night was Kelis of Milkshake fame, singing her new track Acapella.
If you like to dance, drink, and party, Eve is your destination. Just remember, it’s not for the faint of wallet..
