Vocalist Steve Tyrell returns to The Golden Nugget
March 3, 2010
LAS VEGAS – Grammy Award-winning vocalist Steve Tyrell will return to the Golden Nugget Las Vegas for two limited engagements April 13-16 and April 20-24 in the Gordie Brown Showroom.
Known for bringing the standards from the Great American Songbook to life, the jazz vocalist will perform at 8 p.m. nightly as part of his 2010 performance schedule.
“We’re thrilled to have such an amazing vocalist return to the Golden Nugget for 2010,” said Justin McVay, Golden Nugget public relations manager. “We’re confident Steve Tyrell will be as well received this spring as he was in 2009. He’s one of the best.”
Tyrell last performed at the Golden Nugget as part of his 2009 performance schedule in June, where he performed to sold-out crowds and received rave reviews by critics and audience members alike.
With his breakthrough performances in “Father of the Bride” and “Father of the Bride II,” Tyrell reinvented and re-popularized classic pop standards for a modern-day audience. He recently produced Rod Stewart’s “Soulbook,” released in October 2009, and sang “New York Is Where I Live,” written by 15-year-old Clyde Lawrence, in the December 2009 motion picture “Did You Hear About the Morgans.”
In September 2009, his voice was also featured over the end title of Steven Soderbergh’s film “The Informant,” singing a new song written by Academy Award Winners Alan and Marylin Bergman along with Marvin Hamlisch. Tyrell has produced hits for artists ranging from Linda Rondstadt to Grammy-winner Rod Stewart (“Stardust…Vol. 3”, “Thanks for the Memories… Vol. 4) and has collaborated with numerous other artists like Ray Charles, Aaron Neville, LL Cool J, Blood Sweat and Tears, Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, Burt Bacharach, Bette Midler, and Stevie Wonder, just to name a few.
Tyrell has also sold hundreds of thousands of albums and gained a passionate following all over the world with his hits like “The Way You Look Tonight,” “A Kiss To Build A Dream On” and “The Sunny Side of The Street.”
“Steve has worked with some of the biggest-named performers of the Twentieth Century, and we’re very excited to have him appearing again in our venue,” said McVay.
Show tickets start at just $29.95 plus applicable taxes and fees and are on sale now. Special VIP tickets are available for $79.95 and include a meet & greet with the artist.
Tickets may be purchased in person at the Golden Nugget Ticket Office, over the phone at 866-9-GOLDEN (866-946-5336) or online at www.goldennugget.com
Gordie Brown Live! will be dark April 3, as well as April 9-28.

AT THE PALMS

Tickets On-Sale – Saturday, February 27 at noon
Tickets are $30, plus any additional service fees
Please visit the Ticketmaster locabanner at right to purchase tickets.
LAS VEGAS – Modern rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars will perform at The Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Casino Resort on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 9:00 p.m. with special guests Neon Trees.
With album sales reaching 3.5 million worldwide, Thirty Seconds to Mars continues to bring fans the modern, progressive rock they’ve been putting out for nearly a decade.
The band was formed by Jared and Shannon Leto in 1998 and the group’s first self-titled album was released in 2002, starting a legion of fans who accepted the band’s forward thinking sound.
The multi-platinum follow up, A Beautiful Lie (2005) boasted two Top 5 Modern Rock singles “From Yesterday” and “The Kill,” which set the record for the longest-running hit in the history of Modern Rock radio with airplay for more than 50 weeks following its #3 peak in 2006. The band mates traveled to four different continents over three years to keep up with recording while front-man Jared Leto was filming several movies.
Thirty Seconds to Mars’ newest album This Is War (2009) is a reference to the band’s personal battles, a commentary on global crises and economic turmoil, and homage to their now infamous $30,000,000 lawsuit with Virgin Records. This Is War is a triumphant, sonically epic game-changer that builds on the vision laid out in previous album releases.
In addition to Jared’s searing, no-holds-barred vocals, propulsive and melodious bass, guitar and keyboards, Shannon’s huge and inventive percussion, and guitarist Tomo Milicevic’s searing six-string, This Is War buzzes with dozens of imaginative effects and indomitable layers of vintage synths.
These sounds include the cry of a wild hawk screaming to introduce the first single, “Kings and Queens” which charted #1 on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks. The single inspired a short film called “The Ride,” directed by Thirty Seconds to Mars video director alum, Bartholomew Cubbins (“The Kill,” “From Yesterday”).
The Pearl Box Office is open from noon – 7:00 p.m. daily. Doors will open at 8:00 p.m. and show time is 9:00 p.m.
The Pearl is sponsored by Citi; for more information on upcoming concerts, please call 702-942-6888.

CELEBRATE SPRING BREAK IN VEGAS
March 3, 2010
T&T Offers Spring Break Specials Throughout the Month of March
LAS VEGAS – Nothing says Spring Break like a Mexican-style party, and Tacos & Tequila (T&T) inside Luxor knows how to fiesta. Throughout the month of March, T&T will feature its legendary “Cock-A-Doodle Duel,” along with spring specials that will make Spring Breakers of any age want to shake their maracas.
T&T will introduce “Seis y Seis” (that’s “Six and Six” for you gringos) for Spring Break revelers who wish to partake in two Mexican party favorites – tacos and beer. “Seis y Seis” includes six specialty tacos (a choice of chicken, steak or carnitas) and a bucket of six Sol Cuartitos seven-ounce beers for just $29, so guests can take an appetizing detour from the Strip without losing their buzz.
And for the Spring Breakers that want to get really wild, T&T will host ongoing live human rooster fighting competitions. “Cock-A-Doodle Duel,” is an action-packed event involving two contestants dressed as roosters with balloons tied to their ankles, in an attempt to take out their opponent by popping their balloons. The winner will take home a $25 bar tab.
Tacos and Tequila embodies the cool modernism of the new Mexico City, while incorporating traditional elements of Mexican style and high-end Las Vegas panache. The color mixture of old and new creates a vivid picture of brushed aluminum, dark woods, fanciful leather, bright fabrics and colored glass.
The focal point of T&T’s design is its abstract sombrero composed of 20 brushed-aluminum panels featuring thousands of laser-cut images, including two 30-foot dancing, tequila-drinking skeletons.
Lighted from within, this breathtaking covering stretches the entire length of the restaurant floor and across the common area, connecting the T&T retail store and walk-up daiquiri bar.
The highly-stylized Mexican restaurant and bar with a fun, high-energy vibe and flavorful menu, is located inside the Luxor Las Vegas Hotel & Casino and open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The 8,000-square-foot venue embodies Mexican culture intermixed with rock-n-roll flair with a flavorful menu created for Drive This Entertainment! by the talents of world-renowned restaurateur and chef Richard Sandoval.
