TROUBADOUR REUNION TOUR

March 31st, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

March 30, 2010
Las Vegas, Nevada – Iconic recording artists Carole King and James Taylor recently announced additional North American dates for the highly anticipated “Troubadour Reunion” tour, including a stop in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday, July 17 for an 8:00 p.m. performance.
This once-in-a-lifetime event marks a rare concert experience bringing two of the most beloved singer-songwriters on tour together – intimate and in the round – for the first time in four decades.
The idea for the tour was conceived after a series of six performances Taylor and King gave at the Troubadour in Los Angeles in 2007 to celebrate the famed venue’s 50th Anniversary. The shows sold out immediately and garnered rave reviews from fans and critics alike.
Joining King and Taylor on tour will be their original bandmates guitarist Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar, drummer Russ Kunkel and bassist Lee Sklar, famous in their own right as “The Section.” Also joining The Section will be: Rudy Guess, Robbie Kondor, Arnold McCuller, Kate Markowitz, and Andrea Zonn.
King and Taylor’s historic performance together at the Troubadour in November 1970 heralded King’s transition to solo stage performer, after penning 22 Top 40 hits for artists ranging from Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman” to the Monkees’ “Pleasant Valley Sunday”, while Taylor was supporting his self-titled Apple Records release featuring classics such as “Carolina In My Mind” and “Something In The Way She Moves.” Both have since become multi-platinum-selling artists, GRAMMY® winners, and members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Tickets, priced at $125, $85 and $55. Tickets will be available to purchase at the banner above. www.mgmgrand.com  and  Ticketmaster.
To charge by phone call 1-800-745-3000. All dates, acts, and ticket prices are subject to change without notice. All tickets are subject to applicable taxes, and service and handling charges.
In addition, Ms. King and Mr. Taylor are also offering fans one-of-a-kind VIP Stage Seats on the North American leg of the Troubadour Reunion tour.
Proceeds from the sale of these special tickets will benefit both national and local charities from each of the cities visited on the tour, including the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Alliance for the Wild Rockies, environmental organizations that both Ms. King and Mr. Taylor have championed for years. Available exclusively at www.ticketsforcharity.com, these unique stage seats, arranged in tables of two surrounding the stage, present a once-in-a-lifetime concert experience to see two of the world’s most accomplished singer-songwriters.
The idea for the VIP seating grew out of Ms. King and Mr. Taylor’s desire to create an extraordinary “venue within a venue,” an intimate, club-like setting replicating the intimacy of the duo’s legendary Troubadour performances four decades ago, amidst the excitement of an arena performance.
Fans can purchase VIP Stage Seat Charity Packages by visiting www.ticketsforcharity.com  or calling Tickets-for-Charity at 1-866-567-4576.

JACKSON BROWNE at Hard Rock Vegas

March 31st, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

March 30, 2010
With special guest David Lindley
July 20 at 8pm
Tickets on-sale Sat, March 20 at noon!
Las Vegas, NV –Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne will take to the road this summer with his band and longtime friend and musical co-conspirator David Lindley. Comprising dates in the U.S. and Europe, the Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour follows the May 11 release of Love Is Strange (Inside Recordings), a 2-CD live set capturing a tour of Spain that Browne and Lindley did in 2006. Stateside, the Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour gets underway July 20 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Accompanying Jackson Browne and David Lindley on tour will be Browne’s band of almost 20 years: Kevin McCormick (bass), Mark Goldenberg (guitars), Mauricio Lewak (drums) and Jeff Young (keyboards, backing vocals). They’re joined by members (since 2008) Chavonne Stewart and Alethea Mills, vocalists Browne (as a mentor) met in 2001 when they were attending Washington Preparatory High School in South Los Angeles, singing in the school choir.
On record and in performance, Jackson Browne and David Lindley have a musical association reaching back almost 40 years. Regarded as a legendary stringed-instrument virtuoso, Lindley has played on many of Browne’s albums, beginning with 1973’s For Everyman, and on classics including Late For The Sky and The Pretender (the latter two both on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time). Browne also produced Lindley’s best-known LP, 1983’s acclaimed El Rayo-X.
Prior to 2010’s Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour, the last time the two musicians played live dates together was a 2006 run of concerts in Spain—in grand concert halls, rock venues, and intimate clubs alike. That tour resulted in the forthcoming 2-CD album Love Is Strange, “En Vivo Con Tino”— featuring Browne and Lindley live with celebrated Spanish percussionist Tino di Geraldo. Set for worldwide release May 11 on Browne’s independent label Inside Recordings, Love Is Strange was produced by Jackson Browne and Paul Dieter.
In liner notes Browne wrote for Love Is Strange, he considers Lindley’s reputation for elusiveness, nearly as mythic as his string-playing prowess. “Why had I not thought of this before? Take him where he doesn’t speak the language and he will HAVE TO leave the gig and come with you to the restaurant, or to the club,” says Browne. “This was an unexpected strategy breakthrough in a pursuit that for a legion of friends, disciples and admirers has become known as ‘stalking the wild Lindley.’”
The breakthrough continues with the not-to-be-missed 2010 Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour.

Tickets, starting at $39.50 (plus applicable service fees), will be available Saturday at noon at the Hard Rock Box Office, and Ticketmaster.

DROPKICK MURPHYS in Vegas

March 31st, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

March 30, 2010
Friday, August 6 at 8pm
Las Vegas, NV –One of the most beloved punk-inspired bands in the world will be bringing their live show to The Joint on Friday, August 6. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at noon.
From meager beginnings playing all-ages matinees at now-defunct Boston clubs to a prominent placement in Martin Scorsese’s Academy Award-winning film, “The Departed”, the Dropkick Murphy’s have evolved over the past decade into one of the most beloved punk-inspired bands in the world. Now, with “The Meanest Of Times”, their sixth studio album of spirited, cathartic and heartfelt anthems, the oft-cherished seven-piece outfit has also launched its own record label, Born & Bred Records, as a means to bring new DKM music to the world while assuming full control of their destiny.
As evidenced by the explosive, uncompromising and downright brilliant album-opener, “Famous For Nothing” and the set bowing, optimistic roar of “Never Forget”, “The Meanest Of Times” is book-ended in top form and captures among its fifteen tracks what founding bassist Ken Casey calls “themes of childhood, growing up and family”.
“To me the record is a celebration of life”, front man Al Barr adds. “It’s about redemption. It’s about coming up in the world and the way it shapes you. It’s about not taking your family and friends for granted and it’s about living in the moment.
The cover is a bunch of Catholic School kids messing around and looking angry on the playground. And if you think back to your elementary and high school years, in a lot of ways, they sometimes really were the meanest of times.”
The band performed at the Sex Pistols’ infamous 2002 Golden Jubilee gig, Wrote the theme song to the highly improbable 2004 Red Sox World Series Championship, their first in 86 years. Collaborated with Woody Guthrie’s estate to utilize the folk pioneer’s unpublished lyrics to craft “Gonna Be A Blackout”. And there was that critical use of “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” from“ The Warrior’s Code” in the aforementioned Scorsese movie “The Departed”.
A Dropkick Murphys live show is easily one of the most exciting and invigorating around these days as particularly evident if you have ever been to one of their sold out months in advance Boston St Patrick’s Day shows.
Says Ken, “I think it’s almost like we’re going to a show every night ourselves, because the audience is entertaining to us just as much as we’re performing for them. Our fans are so unpredictable. You never know when some drunk is gonna take his clothes off and rub up against you, not that I want to encourage that type of thing!”
“When you get up onstage for two hours of your day, it reminds you why you do it,” Al interjects. “It’s the audience and the fervor that you feel. A lot times I don’t embrace it until I hit the stage, but then I come alive and the reason why I do this, why I love this so much, is nailed into my forehead.”
Tickets, starting at $32.50 (plus applicable service fees), will be available Saturday at noon at the Hard Rock Box Office, or ticketmaster.

March 29, 2010
Five-Acre Oasis Creates New Destination for Sun-Worshippers, Gods and Goddesses
LAS VEGAS — With the famed Las Vegas pool season about to heat-up into full swing, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is ready to take the summer crown with the inspired new Garden of the Gods pool oasis, which makes its grand debut on Friday, March 19.
For photos and video, go to this link.
Already viewed as one of Las Vegas’ most impressive and iconic swimming pools, the water-filled playground is destined to become this year’s ultimate warm-weather Las Vegas experience.
To be among the first to experience the new Garden of the Gods, go to www.caesarspalace.com/gog  to book hotel, pool and dining accommodations.
The “Garden of the Gods Pool & Hotel Package” includes a 3-day, 2-night stay, $25 Garden of the Gods pool credit and a pool bag complete with bag, towel and other necessary pool items. Package begins at $110 per night. Based on availability. Promotion code: PKGCGOG.
The iconic swimming and lounging oasis has been completely redesigned; creating a destination within a destination and featuring eight distinctive swimming pools with lavish amenities and the city’s most attentive cabana servers.
The new Fortuna pool features an 18-foot waterfall where guests can challenge Lady Luck at the swim-up blackjack tables.
In addition to the extravagant new pools, there are 44 new private cabanas, each with a stocked refrigerator of juice and water, flat-screen TV, DVD player, iPod docking station, wireless Internet access, ceiling fan and plush furniture.
With hundreds of new vibrant blue deck chairs, plush daybeds and loveseat-inspired scoop chairs, guests can even just keep it simple and do nothing else but enjoy a day of sun-worshipping. Completing the Garden of the Gods additions is an all-new whirlpool retreat and an added garden wedding venue.
Designed by famed hospitality firm Allard & Conversano, the Garden of the Gods is situated on three levels at the heart of Caesars Palace.
Replete with classically inspired landscaping, statues and fountains, the Garden of the Gods allows guests to find their own experience; from those looking to socialize and connect at the stylish new Fortuna Bar to those who want to enjoy relaxing with a poolside massage.
Engineers precisely tracked the movement of the sun and expanded south and westward to ensure the area offers vast sunny and shady nooks.
“One of Las Vegas greatest assets is its abundant sunshine,” says Gary Selesner, president, Caesars Palace. “Guests make trip decisions to escape drab and enjoy warm sunny getaways.
The new Garden of the Gods was created to be the definitive resort swimming retreat – a resort within a resort. Here, guests have the freedom to find experiences they particularly will enjoy in a five-acre retreat that perfectly complements the exciting nightlife and award-winning restaurants at Caesars Palace.”
THE POOLS
Fortuna
An 18-foot waterfall is the centerpiece of this pool, where guests can enjoy swim-up blackjack. Guests who wish to socialize and connect gather near the Fortuna (swim-up blackjack) pool, flanked in circular sun lounge couches near the Fortuna Bar, where creative mixologists blend cocktails with freshly squeezed juices.
Apollo
Apollo was the Roman god of light and the sun, so it is only fitting that the pool best suited for sun worshipping is named after this deity.
The Apollo pool is positioned at the southwest corridor of the oasis for maximum sun exposure and features five cabanas and six canopied daybeds as well as chaise lounges perfect for soaking in the Las Vegas sun.
Bacchus
Elevated 18-feet in the area, the two Bacchus pools are framed by two graceful curved staircases and available only to invited guests. Private, shallow sun chaise pools, an individual whirlpool and VIP cabanas staffed with butlers are some of the area’s special features.
Neptune
Situated near the Fortuna bar, the Neptune pool is the social hub of the Garden of the Gods – the perfect place to mingle, meet and greet.
The Neptune pool features eight cabanas, 10 daybeds (available in three different varieties) and chaise lounge chairs.
Jupiter
The cabana-lined Jupiter pool offers a quiet respite from the social scene. Designed for lengthy lounging, the Jupiter pool is distinctive for its subdued ambient music and large, custom-designed cabanas equipped to provide relaxing spa services from Qua Baths & Spa.
Temple
The crowning centerpiece of Garden of the Gods, Temple is where shade truly meets sun. Families enjoy the large round Temple pool, where young swimmers-in-training often splash under the rotunda’s central fountains and play on the steps around its large perimeter.
Venus
Scheduled to open April 1, The Venus Pool Club is the most well-appointed and exclusive pool experience in Las Vegas, a sophisticated and secluded European-style retreat from the people who brought you PURE Nightclub. Guests age 21 and older are welcomed to the Venus pool.
SPA TREATMENTS AND SERVICES
For guests looking to indulge not only in the sun but also spa, the world-renowned, award-winning Qua Baths & Spa offers poolside treatments.
Spa services also include neck massages at deck chairs as well as full-service massages in the large Jupiter spa cabana.
POOLSIDE COCKTAILS
Created by Matthew Stober, beverage manager and master mixologist, Caesars Palace, a new menu of specialty cocktails — many made with freshly squeezed juices — will quench guests’ thirst.
WEDDINGS AND EVENTS
With eight swimming pools positioned in three tiers, the new Garden of the Gods offers the perfect location for the elaborately catered pool parties, weddings and other group special events.
Both Juno and Venus gardens are perfect for small or large ceremonies, with seating for up to 114 guests.
The Garden of the Gods is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., March through October. Rental of daybeds, scoop chairs and luxurious cabanas is available for both hotel and non-hotel guests.
