THEM CROOKED VULTURES at the Joint

February 26th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

February 26, 2010
Saturday, April 17 at 8pm
Las Vegas, NV – Them Crooked Vultures–a/k/a Dave Grohl, Joshua Homme and John Paul Jones–will be bringing their tour to The Joint on Saturday, April 17. Tickets go on sale Saturday, February 13 at noon.
The band is touring in support of their debut album that was released in November 2009 on DGC/Interscope Records. The self-produced 13-song record features the debut of the studio versions of the material Them Crooked Vultures unveiled at its August 9 debut at Chicago’s Cabaret Metro and played on a first series of shows throughout a handful of UK and European cities and portions of the eastern U.S., wrapping up with an October 15 appearance at New York’s Roseland Ballroom.
Many people have asked how the band was formed. Dave first came up with the idea of him, Joshua and John playing together. Joshua thought it was a great idea but wasn’t really aware how serious Dave was until Dave essentially set him and John up on a blind date, inviting both of them to his 40th birthday party in January 2009 at Medieval Times in Buena Park, CA. He had the two seated together and was able to observe their chemistry from his perch while being knighted and cheering on the Blue Knight.
When asked to describe the band’s sound, their response was “It sounds like the guy from Queens of the Stone Age singing and playing guitar with the bass player from Led Zeppelin and the drummer from Nirvana.” Fans are encouraged to come up with their own descriptions when they check out this blend of great musicians at The Joint on April 17.
For further information, updates, dates, etc., check back at www.themcrookedvultures.com
Tickets, starting at $49.50 (plus applicable service fees), will be available Saturday at noon at the Hard Rock Box Office, at the Ticketmaster above.

Revolver Saloon & Dance Hall at Santa Fe Station

February 26th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

February 26, 2010
LAS VEGAS – Santa Fe Station saddles up with its latest entertainment offering: Revolver Saloon & Dance Hall, opening tonight. Revolver offers a high-octane nightlife experience that blends country with the hottest rock ‘n’ roll, great libations, dancing, including line dancing earlier in the evening and mechanical bull riding for the locals of Las Vegas.
The 10,000-square-foot venue was designed by noted interior architect Mark Tracy of Chemical Spaces who introduces a new hillbilly chic motif that features the beauty of deadwood trees throughout the room, and a variety of 30-foot-wide murals and hundreds of smaller images with the likes of John Wayne and Johnny Cash to hot women in chaps and not much else.
There’s also the delightful addition of Delilah, the 180-pound mirrored armadillo disco ball hanging from the ceiling that will dance at the speed of the song playing as well as several plasma TVs throughout. Delilah joins the mechanical bull, giving rides nightly.
Revolver features two bar areas plus servers making the rounds throughout the venue, offering a variety of draft, domestic and imported beers as well as premium, specialty and ultra-premium drinks. Specialty “outlaw” cocktails include the “Beergarita,” a blend of beer and margarita that serves a surprisingly delicious taste and expected punch; the “Buck All Night” with Belvedere Vodka and Red Bull; and the “Reverse Cowboy” with Absolut Citron, amaretto, sour mix and Sierra Mist, among others.
The saloon will also feature VIP service, which includes mini-keg table service featuring 100 ounces of beer and a Pabst Blue Ribbon in a brown paper bag. There are four VIP booths with seating for up to 40 people in the VIP area, but seating isn’t limited to VIPs only as there’s additional seating around tables surrounding the dance floor for anyone to enjoy.
Revolver Saloon & Dance Hall will be open every Wednesday through Saturday from 7 p.m. until the last man (or woman) is left standing – or until 3 a.m. Cover is $5 for women, $10 for men or $5 with military ID. Dress code is hillbilly chic or country casual and no athletic attire is permitted. Folks can ride the mechanical bull once for $5 or all-night-long for $20.
“Country and rock ‘n’ roll music has tremendous crossover and we want to cater to the crowd that loves both these genres of music,” said Director of Nightlife Chad Pallas. “It’s amazing when you realize how so many kinds of music have the same beat, so essentially you can line dance to a Black Eyed Peas song and that’s what we’re offering.”
The following themed nights will be offered:
Wednesday
“These Boots are Made for Walking” – ladies drink free until midnight (well and draft)
Happy Hour drink specials from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Line dancing lessons from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Music by DJ Sinner
Thursday
“My Saddle is Waiting” – bull riding competitions for cash prizes
“Industry Night” – both hotel/casino employees and first-responder/military servicemen and women get free entry and half-price drinks all night
Line dancing lessons from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Music by DJ Sinner
Friday
“American Badass” night featuring $1 shots of Jack Daniels and $1 Bud until midnight
Line dancing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Music by DJ Sinner
Saturday
“Dukes Night” where women in western attire drink free until midnight (well and draft)
Line dancing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Revolver is also open for private events like ‘shotgun’ weddings and divorce parties that end with a bang. For more information, visit www.nightlifestation.com  or visit Revolver on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/nightlifestation

Santana Plugs into The Hard Rock Las Vegas

February 15th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

February 15, 2010
Many musicial artists bill a live performance as “unplugged”, but if you have not been to the new Joint at the Hard Rock Las Vegas, then you should get plugged into Santana, because he is plugged into every circuit, electrified, wired, and radiating sparks all over the place.
Although Santana has not put out a new album for some years, mostly compilations with other artists, you can catch his guitar handiwork at the Joint by Rogue (the new venue name). And you can catch Santana and his band on a regular basis because he is the Rock Artist of Residence at the Joint.
I must agree with many that the new Joint is superior to the old Joint, with more seating, airier atmosphere, larger bars, and still not a pillar to block the view. Carved out of the former parking lot, the Joint by Rogue brings you name acts year around – but Santana is their only artist in residence.
The night I saw Santana, he played many of his stalwart standbys, such as “Black Magic Woman”, “Oyo Como Va”, and others, but it was mixed in with new arrangedments of great songs from Deep Purple and other past metallic masters; anything Santana does is a refreshing approach.
Santana first appeared on stage with the curtain drawn just a slit to highlight him and the snapping and cracking lightning storm behind him and the thunder and magic never ceased for over 90 minutes. Santana still was donned in his trademark multi-colored jacket first glimpsed at Woodstock in 1969, but his bead band has been replaced by a cool Fedora. The guitar action was fast and mosaic, but I must also note the exceptional drumming from Dennis Chambers that was verging on esoterical. The whole band is future present with their outlook on life and entertainment value.
Signing on as the first rock and roll resident artist in Las Vegas, Carlos Santana brings his legendary talent to The Joint through a multi-year deal with AEG Live. Through 2010, The Joint will be the only place west of the Mississippi where fans can see Santana perform. Titled to pay homage to his most successful body of work to date, Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits features the artist’s signature fusion sound in a show designed exclusively for the new venue.
Santana plays approximately 36 shows per year at The Joint. Tickets prices start at $51 and can be purchased by visiting the Hard Rock Hotel Box Office, or at the Ticketmaster banner above. For groups of 20 or more, call the Hard Rock Box Office at (702) 693- 5233. For more information, visit www.supernaturalsantana.com Carlos Santana’s Facebook page or The Joint’s Facebook page.
