Artist Info: American country music legend Ray Price got his start in 1951 when he signed with Columbia Records. In 1953, Price formed the band Cherokee Cowboys alongside Willie Nelson, Roger Miller and Johnny Paycheck. Price has several No. 1 hits to his name, including “Crazy Arms” in 1956 that was set to a 4/4 shuffle beat that has since become synonymous with the honky-tonk. Additional No. 1 hit songs include “City Lights,” “The Same Old Me,” “For the Good Times” and “I Won’t Mention it Again,” among numerous other Top 10 hits. In 1996, he was inducted into Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2007, Price released an album with fellow country music legends Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard titled Last of the Breed. Throughout his career, Price has won numerous Academy of Country Music and Grammy awards, most recently winning the 2008 Grammy for “Best Country Collaboration with Vocals” with Nelson.

Artist Info: L.A. Guns got their start in 1986 on Los Angeles’ famed Sunset Strip. Just one year later, the band signed with Polygram Records and recorded its self-titled debut album which sold more than 750,000 copies, earning gold status. The band followed the album’s success with tours alongside acclaimed bands AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Def Leppard.
In 1989, L.A. Guns recorded its second album, Cocked and Loaded, that featured immediate hits such as “Rip and Tear,” “Never Enough” and “The Ballad of Jayne.”
This album hit platinum, selling more than 1 million copies. The band’s third album, Hollywood Vampires, in 1990, reached gold certification, selling 700,000 copies and featured the song “Kiss My Love Goodbye,” among others.
L.A. Guns has continuously released live and studio albums, the most recent being 2006’s Loud and Dangerous. L.A Guns is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the album, Cocked and Loaded by playing it in its entirety. The current lineup consists of Phil Lewis, Steve Riley, Kenny Kweens and Stacey Blades.

Artist Info: Saxophonist Boney James is known for fusing R&B and pop into mainstream jazz. He got his start performing as keyboardist with Morris Day in 1985 and eventually convinced Day to let him play saxophone, which he did for four years with the band.
It grew him a reputation, and James was then performing everything from alto, tenor, soprano and flute for the likes of Randy Crawford, Sheena Easton and the Isley Brothers among others.
It was with Crawford that he got the nickname Boney. In 1992, James made his solo debut with Trust, reaching No. 8 on Billboard’s Top Contemporary Jazz Albums list.
From then, he has continuously released chart-topping albums and songs. This past year, James released Send One Your Love with the title track reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Contemporary Jazz chart.

Las Vegas Celebration of Life Carnival in 2010

Las Vegas Carnival Inc. — a U.S.-Trinidad operation — will host an annual carnival event in Las Vegas in late spring 2010.
The inaugural Las Vegas Carnival will be entitled “a Celebration of Life” and the official dates of the event will be released in the coming weeks.
The Las Vegas Carnival event is based on the global phenomenon of carnival, a pageant of costumed masqueraders, and is traditionally centered on the calypso and soca genres of music or samba as is the case in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Carnival in Las Vegas will expand on the traditional carnivals and include a more eclectic mix of calypso, soca, samba, hip hop, pop, Latin and reggae.
The event will start with a concert and music festival the day prior to the carnival celebration.
More information about the Las Vegas Carnival in 2010 will be revealed in the coming weeks.
