Artist Info: Lynyrd Skynyrd defines Southern Rock. The band hit the music scene in the early ’70s with the release of their debut album Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd which earned gold status.
Their follow up album, Second Helping featured the song “Sweet Home Alabama” that reached No. 8 on the charts and launched them into stardom. The band continued to release chart-topping albums with hit songs, including “Saturday Night Fever,” “That Smell” and the anthemic “Free Bird.” In 1976, the band released the live album One More for the Road which was their first to be certified platinum.
Tragedy struck the band in 1977 when their plane crashed on the way to a gig, killing three members including lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, which led to a separation of the band. In the early ’90s, the remaining members regrouped and signed with CMC International. The band has released multiple new albums and singles and continues to rock stages worldwide.
In August, the band released the single “Simple Life” from the album God & Guns set for release on Sept. 29, 2009, just after their Vegas concert.
