The Golden Nugget Las Vegas will start taking reservations for its new Rush Tower beginning Aug. 1 for stays beginning Nov. 20.
The $150-million tower is the newest addition in the downtown Las Vegas hotel’s renovation and expansion, which has totaled more than $300 million.
Rush Tower will add nearly 500 guestrooms and suites.
Rooms will range from 439 square feet to one-bedroom parlor suites at 1,326 square feet – about 20 percent larger than the hotel’s North and South Tower rooms.
All rooms will be non-smoking and feature pillow-top mattresses, feather down comforters, 42-inch plasma televisions and contemporary décor.
Many rooms will offer views of the Las Vegas strip.
The new tower will also offer a new restaurant, Chart House Aquarium restaurant, which is based on owner Landry’s Restaurants’ nationwide eateries of the same moniker but with a 50,000-gallon tropical aquarium.
The Chart House Aquarium restaurant will offer Chart House menu items, as well as specialty dishes unique to the Golden Nugget location.
A swimming pool with six cabanas and covered lounging areas will also be a part of the new tower and will adjoin the third floor of The Tank pool.
The new tower also will expand the Golden Nugget’s casino offerings, adding more table and slot games, and bring three new retail venues, including a jewelry shop and high-end boutique apparel to the property.
A new reservation desk, porté cochere and valet, and a million-dollar landscaped entrance at First Street and Carson Street are also part of the expansion.

LAS VEGAS – For one performance only, Las Vegas’ top entertainers will come together for a special performance Las Vegas Celebrates the Music of Michael Jackson on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 3 p.m.
In this multi-artist production celebrating the many hits of The King of Pop, entertainers including cast members of Jersey Boys, Lion King, Peepshow and Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular will perform the hits of the Jackson songbook, all in celebration of what would have been the entertainer’s 51st birthday. This unique show will also include video montages throughout from those who knew Michael or were inspired by his work. The multi-faceted acts will be backed by a 10-piece band comprised of musicians led by Las Vegas’ own Joey Melotti. Additional performers and event details will be announced in coming weeks.
This special event will commemorate and celebrate Jackson’s life while raising funds to help kids across the U.S. and right here in Nevada keep music alive in the schools. 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales of this event will benefit Music Education programming in Clark County Public Schools.

Legendary musical act KC & The Sunshine Band will perform their greatest hits for Vegas audiences when they return to The Orleans Showroom for a special three-night engagement, August 14-16.
KC & The Sunshine Band made their debut in 1973, when lead singer Harry Wayne “KC” Casey and bassist Richard Finch released their first single, “Blow Your Whistle,” which quickly rose to the Top 15 on the R&B charts. But it was their 1975 self-titled album that made KC & The Sunshine Band a household name.
The album reached triple platinum status, and songs “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “Boogie Shoes” and “Rock Your Baby” all spent time as No. 1 hits.
The album made KC & The Sunshine Band the first act to score four No. 1 pop singles in a 12-month period, with three of the songs reaching the top of the R&B charts as well.
KC & The Sunshine Band struck triple platinum again with their 1976 release, “Part 3,” which featured three additional No. 1 tracks – “I’m Your Boogie Man,” “Shake Your Booty” and “Keep It Comin’ Love.”
The act followed its two smash albums with a series of No. 1 hit singles, including “Please Don’t Go” and “Yes, I’m Ready.”
In addition to a long string of No. 1 hits, KC has received three Grammy Awards for his work, and has also been named Best R&B Artist at the American Music Awards.
His music has been featured in more than 75 movies, including Saturday Night Fever (for which he won a Grammy as Best Producer), Forrest Gump, Boogie Nights, Rush Hour and Austin Powers in Goldmember.
