Air Supply at the Suncoast

March 29th, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

April 3-5
Las Vegas— Australian soft-rock group Air Supply quickly became a staple of early ‘80s radio after their first smash hit, “Love and Other Bruises.” Performing together for more than 30 years, Air Supply will return to the Suncoast Showroom April 3, 4 and 5 for three 7:30 p.m. performances.
Englishman Graham Russell and Australian Russell Hitchcock met in 1975 while performing in the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Later that year, the duo formed Air Supply and released their first smash hit and self-titled debut album, reaching gold in Australia. After opening for Rod Stewart’s tour in the United States in the late ‘70s, Air Supply had an international breakthrough and signed a distribution deal with Artista Records in 1980.
Their album, Lost in Love, featured three U.S. top five singles, including the title track, which was the fastest-selling single in the world; “Every Woman in the World”; and “All Out of Love,” which hit No. 11 in the United Kingdom’s Top 40 charts. Over the next three years, Air Supply produced hit after hit, including “Just Another Woman,” “The One That You Love,” “Here I Am,” “Sweet Dreams,” “Even The Nights Are Better” and “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts in 1983.
Producing 30 albums and more than 15 hit singles, Air Supply has become a worldwide sensation, touring in Australia, Asia, India, the United States and the Caribbean.
In 2008, as the only Australian band on the list, Air Supply was named No. 83 on Billboard’s top 100 musical acts of all time.
Tickets to Air Supply are available now, starting at $29.95 plus tax.

Gladys Knight at The Orleans Vegas

March 29th, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

March 25, 2009
April 3-5
Las Vegas—One of the legends of American Soul, Grammy-winning Gladys Knight has had a deep influence on the music world throughout her five-decade career. From April 3-5, Knight will be bringing her one-of-a-kind performance to The Orleans Showroom.
Gladys Knight made her solo singing debut at the age of four in a Baptist church in Atlanta. In 1952, shortly after winning a prize for her performance on the televised Ted Mack Amateur Hour, eight-year old Gladys formed The Pips with her brother, sister and two cousins. With young Gladys supplying the throaty vocals and The Pips providing impressive harmonies and graceful choreography, the group went on to achieve icon status, recording some of the most memorable songs of the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s.
Top 20 hits like “Every Beat of My Heart,” “Letter Full of Tears,” “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” and “If I Were Your Woman,” set the stage for an amazing run in the mid-‘70s. Top 10 gold-certified singles such as “Neither One of Us (Wants to be the First to Say Good-bye),” “I Have Got to Use My Imagination,” “Best Thing to Ever Happen to Me” and the No. 1 smash-hit “Midnight Train to Georgia” established Gladys Knight and The Pips as the premier pop/R&B vocal ensemble in the world.
Recording nine solo albums over the years, and teaming with such artists as Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers and Patti LaBelle, Knight has topped the charts and enjoyed numerous No. 1 hits. In addition to her vocal talent, Knight’s involvement in other creative undertakings, business adventures and humanitarian activities has been extensive and has brought her widespread honors and acclimation.
In 1986, she produced and starred in the Cable Ace Award-winning Sisters in the Name of Love, an HBO special co-starring Dionne Warwick and Patti LaBelle. Knight recorded the title theme for the James Bond movie License to Kill in the late ‘80s. In 1999, she completed a starring run on Broadway in the small musical hit Smokey Joe’s Café. Knight also managed to find time to publish her autobiography entitled, Between Each Line of Pain and Glory.

Def Leopard on tour

March 29th, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

March 25, 2009
WITH POISON & SPECIAL GUEST CHEAP TRICK
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
In what is sure to be the biggest rock event this summer, Britain’s greatest arena rock band Def Leppard will join forces with Poison and special guest Cheap Trick for a 40-city North American Tour set to hit MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday, September 5.
With combined sales of 100 Million albums worldwide, 65 million from Leppard alone, fans can expect hits like “Photograph,” “Rock Of Ages,” “C’mon C’mon,” “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” “Foolin’,” “Bringin’ On The Heartbreak, “Nine Lives,” and countless others creating an evening of rock ‘n’ roll unlike any other this summer.
The tour, which kicks off on June 23rd in Camden, N.J, promises an unprecedented night for those in attendance. The show will highlight three decades of music from three of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest bands for a four-hour interactive concert experience that will begin the moment that the doors open.
It will feature Bluetooth technology and delivery, text communications prior to and during performances and a host of interactive offerings.
This in addition to an arsenal of nearly 60 Top 40 hits including Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” “Unskinny Bop,” “Ride the Wind,” “Somethin’ To Believe In,” and “Nothin’ But A Good Time,” as well as Cheap Trick’s “I Want You To Want Me” and “Surrender.”
“I’m very pleased that we are coming back to Las Vegas,” said Def Leppard front man Joe Elliott. “We’re gonna be touring with some new friends and some old friends and can guarantee it will be the Rock Tour of the summer.”
“There is nothing better than an epic summer concert and this tour is a dream come true for rock ‘n’ roll fans. It will be a night of a thousand hits with three hard-charging rock bands on the road together,” said Poison front man and star of VH1’s top-rated “Rock of Love Bus” reality show Bret Michaels.
Def Leppard (Joe Elliott – vocals, Vivian Campbell – guitar, Phil Collen – guitar, Rick “Sav” Savage -bass and Rick Allen – drums) sits at the top of an iconic class of rock ‘n’ roll bands. In fact, they are one of a handful of select groups, including the likes of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Eagles, who have been awarded the R.I.A.A.’s prestigious Diamond Award more than once (Pyromania and Hysteria). The band’s most recent album Songs From The Sparkle Lounge debuted last year at #5 on the Billboard Top 200; earning Def Leppard their highest-charting debut since their 1992 album Adrenalize.
Over the course of their career, Def Leppard has produced a series of classic groundbreaking albums that set the sound for generations of music fans and artists. The group’s spectacular live shows, filled with powerful melodic rock anthems, have become synonymous with their name and are an institution in the touring industry as they continue to sell out arenas worldwide.
Poison, one of rock’s most iconic and enduring bands, has been one of the music industry’s top acts, with multi-platinum album sales and sold out tours since first bursting onto the scene in 1986. Poison’s Bret Michaels, C.C. Deville, Bobby Dall and Rikki Rockett have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and charted twelve Top 10 hits. Throughout Poison’s career, the band’s members have enjoyed collaborative and solo successes from the stage to screen. Bret Michaels currently stars in the #1 viewed reality show on cable, VH1’s “Rock of Love Bus.”
With more than 5,000 performances, 20 million records sold, 29 movie soundtracks and 40 gold and platinum-recording awards, Cheap Trick may be one of the most covered bands of all time. Since the 70s they’ve been blending elements of pop, punk and even metal in a way that is instantly catchy and recognizable.
Def Leppard has teamed up with I Love All Access to offer the ultimate fan experience for the tour featuring a variety of packages.
