Don Rickles at The Orleans
March 20-22
Las Vegas— He’s the legendary comedy performer – “Mr. Warmth,” Don Rickles. Returning to the city where he first starred as a headliner more than 50 years ago, Rickles will be performing at The Orleans Showroom at 8 p.m. each evening March 20, 21 and 22.
Rickles took his first step toward national fame in 1957, when Frank Sinatra wandered in to the small Hollywood nightclub where Rickles was performing. The still-unknown Rickles eyed Sinatra and said, “I just saw your movie,
The Pride and the Passion, and I want to tell you, the cannon’s acting was great. And, make yourself at home, Frank. Hit somebody.” Sinatra doubled up laughing and became one of Rickles’ biggest boosters among Hollywood celebrities. He soon became the “in” comic among the Hollywood stars, who flocked to his nightclub engagements to become the targets of his “insults.”
As a star-struck kid in New York City, Rickles aspired to share the Big Screen with such idols as Clark Gable and James Cagney. He got his wish in 1958, when he appeared in his first film, Run Silent Run Deep, starring Clark Gable. Rickles went on to receive critical praise for his villainous performance in Rat Race in 1960.
During a long period between acting assignments, Rickles decided to try stand-up comedy at a few clubs. Audiences laughed harder at his impromptu insults than at his prepared material, and Rickles’ legend as the king of insult comics was born.
In addition to his stand-up career, Rickles starred in numerous films and television shows over the decades, including Casino, Kelly’s Heroes, Gilligan’s Island, The Andy Griffith Show, Get Smart, Toy Story 1 and 2, and, most recently, the CBS hit series The Unit. Rickles won two Primetime Emmys including the 2008 HBO special entitled Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project for the Best Individual Performance in a Variety or Musical.
Tickets are available now and are priced from $74.95, plus tax. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at (702) 365-7075 or visiting www.orleanscasino.com

ERIC CLAPTON and STEVE WINWOOD
March 2, 2009
SATURDAY, JUNE 27
After their historic three-nights at Madison Square Garden, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood announced an exclusive 14-city U.S. tour beginning June 10, 2009. Their tour will make a stop in Las Vegas to perform at MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday, June 27.
After a stunning collaboration at the Chicago Crossroads Guitar Festival in July of 2007 and much speculation, Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton announced three eagerly anticipated concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Those shows featured the artists performing together in a varied set list with Blind Faith classics and solo hits from each artist. Critics acclaimed the shows as historic and some of the best Clapton Winwood work ever. The tour promises more of the same collaborative musicianship that made these men legendary award-winning artists.
Both Winwood and Clapton have long and prestigious musical careers with countless honors and awards to their names. Their musical paths connected in 1969 with the formation of Blind Faith, a group that pioneered the fusion of rock and blues into tremendous studio and stage success. Despite critical and popular acclaim, the band was short-lived with only one album and a brief 1969 tour that debuted July 12 at Madison Square Garden and ended August 24th in Hawaii.
Since that final show, Winwood and Clapton have remained friends, but have only performed together a few times over the years for an occasional song at a charity event. The 2008 Madison Square Garden shows were the first full Winwood-Clapton concerts in 40 years. Additionally, 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of Blind Faith and 40 years since they performed to over 100,000 people in Hyde Park, London.
Steve Winwood is currently signed to Columbia Records and released an album of new music, NINE LIVES in 2008. Eric Clapton’s compilation album Complete Clapton was released in 2008 on Reprise Records.
The duo’s captivating performance at the 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago can be seen as part of a 2-disc DVD available now from Rhino Entertainment.

Vegas for Half the Price
March 3, 2009
LAS VEGAS, NV—Las Vegas is a bargain again! After a decade of building bigger and more upscale resorts that commanded higher and higher prices, Las Vegas is now actively downplaying its luxury branding in favor of affordability.
Hit hard by the economy—visitor volume in 2008 suffered its biggest year-to-year drop in history—bargain is once again the name of the game in Las Vegas, and deals on everything from rooms to shows to gourmet restaurants (and even gambling) are everywhere.
One of the most potent sources for discounts is the 2009 Las Vegas Advisor Member Rewards Book (MRB), which contains more than 150 coupons representing as much as $2,500 in total savings, with some of the city’s top restaurants and entertainment options participating.
The MRB is available for $37 from www.LasVegasAdvisor.com home to a growing community of savvy casino aficionados who monitor the myriad casino offers to save money on their trips.
In addition to the MRB, the website has introduced Member Rewards Online, an expanding program of printable Web coupons.
“In thirty years of following the Las Vegas casino industry, I’ve never seen a more deal-minded mentality from the casinos,” says Anthony Curtis, a former professional blackjack player who founded LasVegasAdvisor.com, “They’re promoting like crazy—I can’t think of a better time to visit Las Vegas than right now!”
