LAS VEGAS – Beginning Saturday, June 1, Tacos & Tequila (T&T) at Luxor Hotel and Casino will introduce a late night menu available 11 p.m. to close* throughout the summer.

Night owls may enjoy late night specialty drinks and eats created by Corporate Executive Chef Saul Ortiz. The menu features mouthwatering items such as guacamole, queso fundido, flautas, nachos, cheese or chicken quesadillas, habañero chicken wings and a three-taco combo including shredded beef, shredded chicken and pork carnitas, priced at $6 each.

The Jabbarita, named and created in honor of the new Jabbawockeez show ‘PRiSM’ will be available for $8. The exclusive cocktail is made with El Jimador Blanco, Tuaca, Monin Hibiscus syrup, T&T’s house-made margarita mix and garnished with a Hibiscus flower. *Closing time will vary.

About Tacos & Tequila:

Tacos & Tequila, a highly-stylized Mexican restaurant and bar with a fun, high-energy vibe and flavorful menu is located at Luxor Hotel and Casino. The 8,000-square-foot venue is open daily from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. for lunch and dinner, as well as for a Mariachi Brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The design embodies Mexican culture and a flavorful menu by Corporate Executive Chef Saul Ortiz. Guests may call T&T at 702.262.5225, visit the website, follow Tacos & Tequila on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook.

Chef Ortiz recently appeared on Food Network’s “Chopped,” where he brought modern Mexican cuisine to a national platform. Named one of the best tequila bars of 2011 in America by USA Today, Tacos & Tequila embodies the cool modernism of Mexico City while incorporating traditional elements of Mexican style and Las Vegas flair. The color mixture of old and new creates a vivid picture of brushed aluminum, dark wood, leather, bright fabrics and colored glass. The focal point of T&T’s design is its abstract sombrero composed of 20 brushed-aluminum panels featuring thousands of laser-cut images, including two 30-foot dancing, tequila-drinking skeletons. Lit from within, the breathtaking panels stretch across the entire length of the restaurant floor and across the common area, connecting the T&T retail store and walk-up daiquiri bar.

LAS VEGAS – Epicurean Charitable Foundation of Las Vegas (ECF) has selected four outstanding Clark County high school students as scholarship recipients for their 2013 class.

Founded in 2001, ECF’s primary endeavor is to provide educational support for students seeking a career in the hospitality and culinary industries, providing mentorship throughout each student’s college career and helping with placement in internships and jobs upon graduation. This year’s class, with a combined average GPA of 4.19, includes Andrea Rocca-Capano, Aily Rodriguez, Daniela Sanchez and Qin Zhou.

“The Foundation received a remarkable number of applications from gifted and qualified students for the 2013 scholarships,” said Jason Shkorupa, President of Epicurean Charitable Foundation. “While it was difficult to narrow it down from such an impressive group of individuals, we believe we have chosen the four students best prepared to lead this industry into the future.”

A multi-talented young woman with a 3.8 GPA from Valley High School, Rocca-Capano plans to pursue a degree in Hotel Management at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Currently, she serves as vice president of the school’s magnet program for Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (AOHT) Council and recently received first place in Hospitality Service Team Decision Making at the Nevada DECA state competition. Rocca-Capano is also a member of both the varsity swimming and flag football teams and is the school’s German Club Ambassador.

Determined to have a successful future, Rodriguez is another well-rounded student from Valley High School with a passion for hospitality. As a senior, she serves as vice president of the Robotics Club, treasurer of the German Club and a mentor coordinator in the school’s magnet program for AOHT. Rodriguez also epitomizes the role of student-athlete, competing in both track and pole vaulting while displaying her talents at state-wide events on the Sky Pure Pole Vaulting Club. She was named the school’s student of the month in May and holds a 4.06 GPA. Rodriguez plans to pursue a degree in Hotel Management at UNLV.

Another talented Valley High School recipient, Sanchez brings a talent for leadership to the hospitality industry and will pursue a degree in Hotel Management at UNLV. Along with an impressive 4.66 GPA, she serves as the Nevada DECA State President and is the student representative to the Nevada State Board of Education. On a local level, she is both the AOHT Council President and the Student Body President and was named Valley High School student of the month for student activities in 2009. Sanchez is a two-time recipient of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) academic award in leadership, has been a National Honor Society member since 2010 and recently gained hands-on industry experience as a business development intern at VEGAS.com.

Representing Durango High School, Zhou holds a 4.3 GPA and will pursue a degree in Hotel Management at UNLV. A native of southwest China, she is bilingual in Mandarin and English and also participates in the Spanish club at school. She recently completed five AP courses and earned a perfect attendance record from January 2011 to January 2012.

ECF works to change the lives of Nevada’s students and positively impact the community through generous contributions from donors including Johnson Brothers, Southern Wine & Spirits, Wirtz Beverage Nevada, Diageo, Fiji Water, Coca-Cola, MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment and more. Future donors can support ECF with a monetary or in-kind donation, matching a gift, gift and estate planning or become a scholarship or M.E.N.U.S sponsor.
